Disaster Animal Response Teams (NH-DART)

The New Hampshire Disaster Animal Response Team (NH-DART) was established on May 1, 2007, at the request of New Hampshire State Veterinarian Steve Crawford, DVM. His request was for a single entity that would organize and provide aid to animals in the event of a disaster. As that entity, NH-DART provides trained animal response teams that coordinate resources at a local level and also provide emergency veterinary services and supportive care for pets, farm animals, and exotic animals.

NH-DART is partnered with the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets, & Food; the State Veterinarian; New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management; municipal emergency managers and fire chiefs; nongovernmental organizations; national volunteer organizations – such as National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), American Red Cross, and Citizen Corps; as well as many dedicated individual volunteers.
