Emergency Preparedness Training
In an effort to support National Preparedness Month, Volunteer NH/Citizen Corps is hosting a CERT Rodeo on September 19, 2009.
The NH CERT Rodeo is designed to be a day of fun, networking, and camaraderie for all our trained CERT members. Throughout the day teams will negotiate four different disaster scenarios, receive two basic trainings in HAZMAT and Line-Search, and enjoy some local CERT or emergency displays.
This all day event will take place September 19, 2009 at the NH Fire Academy located at 222 Sheep Davis Road, Concord, NH. The first event begins precisely at 0900, rain or shine.
The four scenarios, created by our CERT Rodeo committee, are timed events and are designed from the SM 317 Community Emergency Response Training curriculum (Basic CERT Training). Each scenario will require the team to assess the situation, select a team leader, react to the particular scenario and conclude with an AAR (After Action Report) led by one of our trainers.
As with any event, we need volunteers to help with administrative duties, role-playing, or manning your displays. You can choose to participate in the actual scenarios or volunteer to assist in the support of this event, either way, it's all about being part of the team. Please click here for more information.
The National goal of the month is to increase public awareness about the importance of preparing for emergencies and to encourage individuals to take action. Throughout September, Homeland Security will work with a wide variety of organizations, including local, state and federal government agencies and the private sector, to highlight the importance of family emergency preparedness and promote individual involvement through events and activities across the nation.
