New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month for July

Durham, NH ~ July 15, 2009

Ann Hebert of the New Hampshire Air National Guard Family Program was recognized as July's Volunteer of the Month by Governor John Lynch and the Executive Council for her exceptional service to many.

Hebert joined the program in 1990 and has been active in providing support and service to the members and their families. To better her service, she has attended state, regional, and national workshops. She has also been appointed as the “Lead Wing” volunteer overseeing 25 volunteers in the unit. In serving this program, Hebert coordinates deployment departure receptions and provides dinner for more than 30 attendees.

In addition, Hebert provides free uniform and wedding gown alterations for members and brides of the Air National Guard. Hebert also owns a bridal shop where she collects donations for the organization. Tax preparation assistance is yet another service she volunteers her time to do.

Beyond the Air National Guard Family Program, Hebert also spends time volunteering at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, is an active member on the outreach committee for the Women's Club at St. Catherine of Siena, and is a full-time caregiver to her 92-year-old mother.

The Volunteer of the Month award, established under Governor John Lynch and administered by Volunteer NH, recognizes outstanding individuals in the New Hampshire community for their dedication to service. Bellwether Community Credit Union, in partnership with Volunteer NH, is the Governor's Volunteer of the Month sponsor.

Nominations for the awards are accepted year round and are also considered for the Spirit of New Hampshire awards in November.
