The Spirit of New Hampshire Awards honor outstanding contributions to volunteerism throughout the state of New Hampshire. They augment the many local recognition events that show appreciation for the work of community volunteers and volunteer programs
Each fall, a statewide celebration is held to present Spirit of New Hampshire Awards in two major groups:
Help us recognize individuals, groups, businesses and educational institutions committed to volunteerism in their communities.
Volunteer NH also awards the Spirit of New Hampshire Award, which is selected by a review panel out of the Volunteer Service Awards. This award is given to highlight the impact that a volunteer can have and how that impact has improved the state of New Hampshire. While all awards are honored and are critical to fostering the tradition of volunteerism, the Spirit of New Hampshire award sets an example of inspiration each year that sets the tone for further contributions of service. The Spirit of New Hampshire award is selected by anonymous vote by a review committee made up of Volunteer NH’s partners, past recipients, past nominators, and volunteer program managers from across New Hampshire.
The Community Pillar Award is given to an outstanding member of the community whose work has fostered the civic engagement of others and has provided a lasting impact on NH citizens. As with any outstanding contribution to the culture of service, the impact of this community member’s work extends far beyond NH. The winner of the Community Pillar Award must have an ethic of direct service and serve to inspire others to become involved. Unlike other awards given at the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards, the Community Pillar award is selected by Volunteer NH committee and Board of Directors who review current trends in volunteerism across the state.
