AmeriCorps & Other Resources
Volunteer NH itself, along with its partners provide AmeriCorps and other resources for organizations in a variety of ways. Check out the video below to learn more.
AmeriCorps NH Grants Overview
Volunteer NH is the organization that receives funds from the AmeriCorps federal agency, runs grant competitions twice a year, and subgrants dollars to successful applicants. The two grant Competitions run every year are the AmeriCorps Competitive grant competition and the AmeriCorps Formula grant competition.
AmeriCorps Competitive
Volunteer NH runs a competition for applicants wishing to run full AmeriCorps programs. After reviewing the applications, Volunteer NH then submits them to the federal agency for a final funding decisions.
AmeriCorps Competitive programs are funded for three years at a time.
Only applicants with prior AmeriCorps experience are allowed to apply to Volunteer NH (see table below).
Those wishing to create a program that would operate in more than one state, should apply to AmeriCorps directly.
AmeriCorps Formula
Volunteer NH receives an annual allocation from AmeriCorps (the federal agency) to subgrant to organizations for AmeriCorps-related programming. This allocation (known as “Formula funds”) is meant for Volunteer NH to prioritize grant funding for projects that address New Hampshire-specific issues (as identified in the New Hampshire State Service Plan). In addition, Volunteer NH seeks to support the annual priorities set by AmeriCorps.
During this competition, Volunteer NH accepts two types of applications: AmeriCorps Program Grants (for applicants wishing to run full programs) and AmeriCorps Planning Grants (for organizations to receive funds to pay for staffing and other costs as they spend up to a year developing and preparing to apply for and run, a full AmeriCorps program). Only applicants with prior AmeriCorps experience are allowed to apply for Program Grants. All eligible applicants may apply for a Planning Grant (see table below).
Both types of grants are awarded for one year (with the ability to apply for Continuation funding for Program grants).

Become an AmeriCorps Program Host Site
If your organization goals and activities align with an already-operating AmeriCorps program, you might be able to host one (or more) AmeriCorps members. Application processes vary, so make sure to reach out to the specific program’s contact. Click here to view current AmeriCorps programs.
Become a Project Site for an AmeriCorps Day of Service.
There are three days of service (in January, March, and September) where AmeriCorps members are asked to serve a half-to-a-full day in in their communities. Does your organization need painting, organizing, filing, or cleaning done? Let us know! Contact info@volunteernh.org to learn more.
Apply for an AmeriCorps NCCC Project
Does your organization have a short-term project (6-8 weeks) that a group 8-12 AmeriCorps members could work full-time on? Then consider submitting a concept paper for an NCCC project! Typical activities can include disaster-recovery, energry conservation, environmental stewardship, infrastructure improvement, and/or urban and rural development, and much more!
