Getting things done
As New Hampshire’s designated State Service Commission, Volunteer NH promotes volunteer service across the state and acts as a steward of the National Service funds provided to our state by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). CNCS knows that service works, which is why they are committed to improving lives, strengthening communities, and fostering civic engagement through service and volunteering.
AmeriCorps members Get Things Done for America. They build safer, stronger, healthier, and united communities across the country. AmeriCorps improves lives and fosters civic engagement when it matters the most. AmeriCorps members commit to serve for a length of time determined by the program, and receive benefits such as a living allowance and/or an education award.
Senior Corps is another branch of CNCS, and functions similarly to an AmeriCorps program. Read on for more information.
AmeriCorps State and National
AmeriCorps State and National programs support organizations that see service as a solution to local and national challenges. These programs create powerful member experiences that result in lifelong civic engagement, and are open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens age 17 and older. AmeriCorps members serve in AmeriCorps State and National projects in every state, U.S. territories, and on tribal reservations. Volunteer NH administers funding and oversight for AmeriCorps State programs in New Hampshire.

Learn more about AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members bring passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions.
New Hampshire is home to two AmeriCorps VISTA programs, one managed by Catholic Charities NH and the other by Families in Transition. Both programs place VISTA members at various types of Host Sites (food banks, women’s shelters, youth development centers, etc.) in locations all across the state.
AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, residential, team-based program for young adults, age 18-24 (with no upper age limit to serve as a team leader). Members develop leadership skills and strengthen communities by completing service projects and gaining life experience.
